Checklist: Application for a license as a veterinary nurse with foreign education

Checklist

Step 1:

Prepare your documents and make sure you have the following documents ready, translated into Swedish or English by an authorized translator if they are in another language:
• Certificate/diploma from your veterinary nursing education
• Course list/training plan (with information about course content, number of hours/weeks, theoretical and practical parts)
• Any internship certificates or service certificates
• Certificate from employer if you have worked in the profession
• ID document or passport (copy)
• Certificate of name change (if name differs between documents)
• Translations of all relevant documents (if the originals are not in Swedish or English)

Step 2:

Check which regulations apply
• I have checked whether I am covered by EU/EEA rules or if I am applying from a country outside the EU/EEA
• EU/EEA: Professionally regulated examination according to EU directives
• Outside the EU/EEA: Individual assessment required

Step 3:

Create and submit your application
• Go to: jorbordsverket.se
Search: “Veterinary nurse license foreign education”
• Download and fill in the correct application form
• Attach all documents in digital format or send by post according to instructions
• Pay the application fee (check the current amount – approximately SEK 1,350)
• Double check that all attachments are included!

Step 4:

After you submit your application
• I have noted the date of submission of the application
• I save a receipt of the payment
• I am prepared to submit additional information if the Swedish Board of Agriculture requests it.
• I have control over my email so that I don't miss replies from the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

If supplementation is required

• I am prepared to undertake additional training or internships if required.
• I am aware of Swedish language requirements (Swedish 2/SVA 2 may sometimes be required)
• I know that I can appeal the decision or reapply if rejected.
