Do you want to work with animals? New course starts January 2027

Grundkurs i läkemedelshantering för hund och katt

Do you dream of working with animals but don't know where to start? Vetmigo's next Basic Course in Drug Handling for Dogs and Cats starts on January 19, 2027. In two course days and two weeks of internship, you will take the step into animal healthcare and you do not need any prior knowledge.

The course is suitable for those who want to change careers, have just finished school, or have long considered a job where you make a difference for animals and their owners every day.

From the start of the course to working with animals

Once you have completed the training, completed two weeks of internship and passed the theory test, you will become a level 2 animal caretaker. This means that you can start working at veterinary clinics and animal hospitals, where you will become an important part of the team around the patients.

There is a great need for knowledgeable staff in animal healthcare. With the right foundation in medication management, animal handling and hygiene, you will be a reliable colleague from day one.

This is how the course goes

The theory is divided into two sessions, followed by practice:

  1. January 19, 2027 – digitally. On the first day of the course, you leave home, wherever you live in Sweden.
  2. February 2, 2027 – on site in Eskilstuna. The second day contains more practical elements and is held centrally in Eskilstuna. You need to be present here. Breakfast, coffee and lunch are included.
  3. Two weeks of supervised internship. You apply what you have learned at a veterinary clinic or animal hospital.

This is what you will learn

The course is led by Anna Forsblom (lic. veterinary nurse, Cert VNECC, NCert Anaesthesia) and mixes theory with practice. The focus is on safe and correct medication management. Among other things, you will go through:

  • Basic pharmacology
  • Drug side effects and tissue-irritating preparations
  • Swedish constitutional knowledge
  • Safe animal handling in clinical settings
  • Anatomy for dogs and cats
  • Swedish antibiotic policy
  • Healthcare hygiene during injections

The groups are small, so you receive personal support all the way from the first day of the course to the internship.

We help you find an internship

Internships are an important part of the education, and you don't have to look for them on your own. Vetmigo can help you find an internship in several locations in Sweden, for example in Mälardalen, Stockholm, Örebro and Malmö.
